In the Madanpura locality of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, two individuals have been apprehended for allegedly threatening a temple priest over the playing of Hanuman Chalisa on a loudspeaker. This information was confirmed by the police on Saturday.
Priest Sanjay Prajapati reported to the authorities that after conducting prayers at the Hanuman temple on Friday, he began playing devotional songs on a tape recorder. At that moment, Abdul Nasir and his son arrived and started using abusive language.
They demanded that the loudspeaker be turned off and warned that there would be severe consequences if the devotional songs were played again. Following this, a group of individuals surrounded the priest, intimidating him, which prompted him to file a complaint with the police.
Gaurav Bansal, the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Kashi Zone, stated that a case has been registered, and both suspects were arrested on Friday night.
